Henhull to Goldstone Wharf on the Shropshire Union Canal.          19 August

Terry, John and I have been taking an annual 'three men in a boat' trip on John's boat Wolf since 2007. This year's trip started as usual at Henhull, near Nantwich and the plan was to up to Goldstone Wharf on the Shropshire Union Canal (Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal - Main Line) near to Market Drayton and hopefully meet up with Tom and Pat, Nigel and Annette and maybe their boat Anni.

The weather was what we Cheshire folk call 'mukky', so not many bright and shiny pics.

We meet up as usual at Henhull.

Rather impressed by this rig, in the pub carpark

Hand in your side arms!! Venue for our evening beer at The Bridge Inn, Audlem. [Actually, its only the bar staff who can't pack heat.]

Into the Audlem flight.

Early evening sun at the Wharf Tavern at Goldstone Wharf.

Next day we winded and headed back down the Audlem flight.

Met up with Pat and Tom, Nigel and Annette back at Audlem. Evening meal at The Lord Combermere.

Next day we met up with nb Alchemist, heading in the opposite direction and stopped for a 'gam', [Melville, in 'Moby Dick' claims this to be a phenomena restricted to whale boats but it happens on the canals too, its just a chat between captains and fraternisation with the crew of another boat]. John and Pam would be cruising with them later. This crew member was too busy holding Wolf against the wind to take pics.

Resident cormorant at Henhull.

Home again.
