 Kington sunshine walk February

  Duke Street looking East from High Street.

Not a lot of sunshine this month but I have made the most of what we have had. This months pics take in a couple of detours off the 'official' route, mostly to avoid gloom and mud but also to pick up building materials from Kington Building Supplies [KBS] across the roundabout at the far end of Victoria Road, so just off the 'official' map and a detour beyond the church with views of Castle Hill.

  It is market day at McCartney's livestock market and a view of Bradnor Hill.

  Grumpy Grampies Tajmahal Indian restaurant 2 links. Two favourite establishments.

  Duke Street with Lyudmilla's pet food shop, Margraves Solicitors and Jeremy's bespoke clogs 2 links.

   Jeremy's bespoke clogs 2 links with timber for yet more clogs drying outside.

  Back down the High Street to the Market Hall and the Grapevine organic and wild food shop.

  Kington Museum and The Coach House.

  Up Church Street and The Square and Swan Hotel.

  Through the kissing gate.

  Another day, this is where Duke Street becomes Victoria Road and is the view from my door and we are heading to Kington Building Supplies [KBS] for some wood.

  Sunset Row, named for Meredith's Sunset works who built the houses for their workers.

  It was also known as Nailmaker's row as the wives hand beat bits of metal into nails.

  6m long plank, too big for the car so carried home by clog. It only just fits!

  Bright and sunny to-day so a longer walk, through the church yard.

  

  

  with a good view of Bradnor Hill

  Broad beans sprouting well, gave me the incentive to put mine in too.

  Castle Hill mound..

  Bradnor Hill to day we will swing to the left in front of the cottages.

  From where we can see the Back Brook in spate and the end of the old tramway.

  We take the Old Road away from the Back Brook.

  then swing round to almost the start again and a good view of Castle Hill.

  Daffodils, can spring be far away after all?

  Back along the Old Tramway.

  Trying to get a view of the hills to the South.

  All but succeeding but for 'the 'ouses in between'. a song my mother used to sing as she went about the house.

  Catkins in the sun.

  Hold the camera over the hedge and shoot. Only a few 'ouses in between'

  try again for a view down a gunnel.

  Another day and the aim to walk the Tramway and find where the 1902 photograph was taken.

  We can just see the house [for now].

  The tramway continues but doesn't match the photograph.

  

  

  The back lane takes us home parallel to Victoria Road.

  Not a lot to see.
