When the tTs decided to re-locate to South Africa, they talked about their jobs, the university and the wonderful country where they would be living and working. All this was vey reassuring for their parents but nothing could beat actually going there and seeing for themselves. So although their time in South Africa was short it was also a chance for the parents to get a glimpse of the country and the lives the tTs were living there.

Of course we made a list of things we would like to do, Tanya's parents wanted to go on a safari, Anne-Marie wanted to visit Kirstenbosch Gardens and Chris was curious to see the university in session and the latest progress on the tTs research projects.

emails have long provided the thread that connects and binds our family and have served us well in bridging the geographical distances between us. [US, UK and ZA] These posts follow that email thread and where possible, quotes from them have been used to introduce or illuminate topics in the posts.
